Frequently Asked Questions

Telehealth, Walk & Talk, and general therapy questions

  • What is Telehealth?

Telehealth involves using technology to conduct therapy sessions remotely, providing a virtual platform for individuals to connect with their therapist.

    How does it work?

Sessions are conducted via video conferencing platforms, allowing clients to engage in therapy from the comfort of their own space using a computer, tablet, or smartphone.

Is Telehealth as effective as in-person therapy?

Research indicates that telehealth can be just as effective as in-person therapy for many individuals. It offers the convenience of accessing therapy from anywhere with an internet connection.

What technology do I need for a Telehealth session?

You'll need a device with a camera and microphone, such as a smartphone, tablet, or computer, and a secure internet connection to participate in telehealth.

    Is Telehealth secure and confidential?

Yes, telehealth platforms use encrypted channels to ensure the confidentiality and security of your therapy sessions. It will be your responsibility to ensure you are in a private and confidential space on your end for each session.

What if I experience technical difficulties during a Telehealth session?

If this happens, we can take a moment to troubleshoot the problem, or we can defer to a phone call if needed.

    Is my Telehealth session recorded?

Telehealth sessions will not be recorded. Your privacy and confidentiality are a top priority.

Can I have Telehealth sessions if I'm out of state?

No, I can only provide therapy services to individuals located within the state of California due to my licensing regulations. If you are temporarily out of state, we can discuss potential alternatives during that period.

How do I obtain resources or materials discussed in a Telehealth session?

I am happy to provide resources electronically or guide you through accessing materials relevant to your therapy goals.

Are there limitations to Telehealth sessions?

While telehealth is effective for many therapeutic needs, certain interventions may be better suited for in-person sessions. I will provide guidance based on your specific needs.

What if I have concerns about the quality of Telehealth care?

I value your feedback and am committed to ensuring a positive therapy experience! If you have concerns at any point in therapy, you are welcome to communicate these with me.

  • What is walk and talk therapy?

Walk and Talk therapy is a form of outdoor counseling where therapeutic sessions take place during a walk in a nature setting.

Where does walk and talk therapy take place?

Sessions typically occur in parks, beaches, or other outdoor locations. I currently offer Walk and Talk therapy at Balboa Park - weather permitting*

Wear comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear for walking. Consider the weather conditions of the outdoor setting.

What happens if we see someone we know?

Encountering someone we know during our Walk and Talk sessions is a possibility. This is something we will discuss before getting started! We may take a detour, or pause briefly—it's entirely up to you and what feels most comfortable in the moment. Confidentiality remains a priority, and I'm here to ensure your privacy and preferences are respected throughout our sessions.

How long do walk and talk therapy sessions typically last?

Session duration is similar to traditional therapy, and will be 50 minutes long.

Is walk and talk therapy suitable for everyone?

Walk and Talk therapy is adaptable to various fitness levels. The pace can be adjusted to suit your individual needs, with the main focus being able to walk and talk together.

It's essential that we discuss any limitations before making the plan for our Walk and Talk session!
